So now that the jet lag has warn off and I caught up with my work, I can begin by telling a bit of Erik and I’s journey. People also have to know that I went to Europe on vacation- so I didn’t take millions of photos but I took ones for my enjoyment. Its not a wedding hence not a million.
So our story/ adventure begins by me forgetting something- as all good adventures do. For weeks erik and I packed double checked things, made sure I didn’t tell many people that I was going because its like telling people “please oh please ROB my house” so we didn’t do that.
I made a document with walking directions and things we could do in each city and I forgot it on my computer when we left, as well as forgetting to change my voicemail to say I am away and if you need to get a hold of me please email me. I figured that one out in Canada on a lay over when I held my phone turned to Erik and just said, “Crap” . So if you called I am sorry.
Erik and I went to 9 Countries
(in order)
Canada- it is a country and we stayed there
Switerland (Geneva and Zurich)
Italy (Cinque Terra, Milan)
France (Caen, Paris, Nice)/ Monocco
Belgium (Brussles)
Netherlands (Amsterdam)
Czech Republic (Prague)
Germany (Munich, Fussen, Dacoho (sp))
Austria
Needless to say our journey was crazy 9 countries. As my husband said, ” bad decisions make great stories” 🙂
We arrived in Geneva, Switzerland
Beautiful weather
We saw the United Nations, Protesters and a fountain thing
We just walked around and got some food, we were tired you know
Our next adventure was getting to Cinque Terra- we had to catch the right train and the right time and we had no margin for error because we were meeting our bed and breakfast place.
Our adventure was great, we quickly learned that train travel was awesome- you could nap and do what ever you want on the train
Read a book, watch a movie, take a nap, talk to strangers- its awesome!
We arrived in a creepy tunnel and locally we didn’t feel shy about asking for help. It look like a world war 2 tunnel and we were going to something creepy like an under cover oops
But it was the city. Riomaggorie Amazing!
We walked up the hill and quickly saw why this is such a beautiful city- filled with wine and lemons and great sea food!
We spent our time hiking around, drinking wine, taking pictures and did I mention walking 🙂
We loved our time there
Pesto, lemon, wine, and sea food were the foods they were known
We hiked and hiked
We took a train then to what we hoped was Paris but night train was full 🙁 so we got as far as we could into France…..
Can I get dramatic music dan dan daaaannnnn NICE
Okay after some google searches I think I can tell you how bad we hated nice
So our overnight train was full so we decided to go as far as we could into france- we ended up in Nice. Heard about it thought it would be nice- No worries right?
Wrong.
We got our train ticket to Paris- 6:30 in the morning (check)
We needed a hostel so we went to the information desk- it was open- its what we did at every place we went to- all we got was hostels close and hotels are ehehehrigneaongr (in a snutty french accent) erik and i looked at each other and just said- its an adventure we will find something.
We step out into the street and see this :
\
The train station is next to tons of sex shops… so we were wanted to get our stuff into a hotel asap- we price shopped a bit and saw a hotel– Hotel Darcy 45$ euro Rick Steve always says “see the room first” take that advise its key.
Here is what we got.
Door number written with a Sharpy marker and everything smelled of sex and smoke and urine
We were ever so happy to leave this place as quickly as we could.
Oh and on the shower it was written “Come Home Boy” In romanian creepy
